What to expect in your parcel
You should expect your shrimp carefully bagged and cushioned in packaging for their safe arrival. There should always be a copy of our business card to accompany them. Here is where you will find all the information you need to care for your shrimp. A full guide with our policies and information.
We do our best to send a complimentary sample of snowflake shrimp food. Only use a small amount when feeding as this will expand a lot in the water.
Our Care Sheet
Dead On Arrival (D.O.A Policy)
We would like you to record the arrival and unboxing of your order and send it to us within 60 minutes of opening. In the unlikely and unfortunate event of a DOA, (Dead on arrival), we will use this video as evidence. Proof of your DOA must be in the original packaging as once you release the order into your aquarium we recieve this as acceptance of the order. The DOA is all we will refund, not the postage costs. Thank you for your understanding and happy shrimping!
Delivery Guide
If you are expecting a delivery, we would like to thank you so much for your support in our small business. When your shrimp arrive, they may be quite stressed. After all, they've been through a tough journey to get to their forever after! Their colouring may seem quite pale, but they should colour up in no time once they've acclimated to their new home!
Ages of our shrimps
We try our best to supply you with our best grades adults. However, sometimes our only adults may be our breeders, therefore if you recieve a delivery of juveniles it's simply because our adults weren't available at this time.
We want to thank you for your understanding. We breed all our own stocks and our most popular shrimp can fly out the door faster than we can breed them.
Accuracy of our Colours and Patterns
Here at H&K Aquatics, we take all of our own photos of our stock. We try to match our stock photos with every order, but we cannot guarantee exact matches or unique patterns.
We work hard to quality check our stock before we send them out and take time not to bag up any low grades or culls in premium orders. (Unless you have ordered our culls/low grades.)
What we feed our shrimps
Our shrimp have been raised on a wide variety of foods so that they have the best start in their new homes. They get fed once per day, enjoying food items such as algae wafers, bee pollen, shrimp sticks, snowflake, tropical fish flake, spirulina and bug bites.

Plants, Snails & Unexpected Hitchhikers
We do NOT use plastic products for our shrimps to hold onto during their transit. We send them clutching onto guppy grass from their habitats.
This could well mean that snails/hitchhikers could come along for the ride. If this is something that you do not desire then please empty your bags into a dish and float them in your tank when acclimating them. Once acclimated, you can be sure to carefully remove your shrimp and place them into your aquarium. Then simply dispose of your hitchikers.
H&K Aquatics takes full responsibility of any snails/Hitchikers. After all, we also breed and sell our beautiful snails. Maybe think of them as a free treat and enjoy!
Did you get more shrimp than you bargained for?
We like to look after our customers. Don't worry, if you got more. We do not charge any more than you have already paid. Consider it a product of our generosity. There may be shrimplets in your order. These will not count towards the number of shrimp you ordered.
Shrimplets are incredibly tiny little creatures. Sometimes they sneak their way into the bag and we may not have even noticed they were there! If your order contains shrimplets, then you can enjoy watching them grow.
Some of our shrimp may already be 'eggnant' on their way to you. Consider it an exciting adventure to lots of little baby shrimplets for you to enjoy.
