What to Expect in Your Delivery π¦
Your shrimp will arrive carefully bagged and cushioned in protective packaging to ensure a safe journey. Each order includes a copy of our business card, which contains everything you need to know about caring for your shrimp, along with our key policies and information.
As a thank you, we also include a complimentary sample of Algea Wafer Shrimp Food. Please remember — a little goes a long way! This food expands in water, so use only a small amount when feeding.
We want your shrimp to arrive happy, healthy, and ready to thrive in their new home.
π H&K Aquatics – Live Arrival & DOA Policy
We take great care in packing and shipping all live shrimp to ensure they arrive healthy and safe. However, in rare cases, losses can occur during transit. Please read our DOA (Dead on Arrival) policy below:
β Live Arrival Guarantee
- All live shrimp are guaranteed to arrive alive.
- If you experience any losses upon delivery, our DOA policy applies.
π· What to Do in Case of DOA
Please ensure that someone is available to receive the delivery when your shrimps arrive. Live shrimp should not be left outside or unattended after delivery. When your order arrives please record a clear, continuous video of opening the parcel, starting from the sealed box and continuing on through the unboxing of the bags.
In the event of DOA shrimp, please:
-Keep the shrimp in the unopened bag.
-Ensure the video clearly shows the shrimp inside the sealed bag.
-Email your video along with contact details and order number to: hk_aquatics@outlook.com
All DOA claims must be reported within 1 hour of delivery. We will review your claim and provide a replacement, store credit or refund where necessary (Excluding postage).
Please note that we do include extra shrimp free of charge to cover any DOA where possible.
-Video evidence is required for any DOA claims, we do not accept photos alone.
-Claims must be submitted within 1 hour of delivery of your shrimp parcel.
-Failed delivery attempts, deliveries to safe places left unattended and or/ rescheduled deliveries will void our DOA Guarentee.
-Our DOA policy does not cover losses after shrimp have been introduced to your aquarium.
π Shipping & Safety
- All shrimp are packed with care in insulated packaging.
- Heat packs or cold packs are included when necessary, depending on the season.
- Orders are shipped Monday–Friday only, to avoid weekend delays.
Orders place before 12pm qualify for same-day dispatch. Orders placed after this time will be shipped on the next available shipping day.
If you would like delivery on a specific date, please leave a note at the checkout when placing your order, and we will do our best to accomodate your request.

About Juvenile Shrimp in Your Order π¦
At H&K Aquatics, we always aim to supply our customers with the best quality, fully-coloured adult shrimp. However, at times our adult shrimp may be limited, as many are kept as breeders to maintain strong, healthy lines.
If you receive juveniles in your order, please know this is simply because adults were unavailable at the time. Juveniles are just as healthy and will quickly grow into vibrant adults in your care.
We truly appreciate your understanding — our shrimp are all UK-bred in-house, and some of our most popular varieties sell faster than we can raise them!

About Our Shrimp Photos & Grading π¦
Here at H&K Aquatics, all photos you see are of our own stock. We always do our best to match your order with the shrimp pictured, but please note that exact patterns or markings cannot be guaranteed — every shrimp is unique!
We carefully quality check all shrimp before shipping. For premium orders, we make sure no culls or low grades are included (unless you’ve specifically ordered our low grades or culls).
If you’ve ordered low grades/culls and received some that look higher grade — lucky you! Shrimplets can be tiny and fast, so a few higher grades can slip in during sorting. Consider it a bonus from us to you.

Our Shrimp Care & Feeding
At H&K Aquatics, our shrimp are raised on a wide variety of foods to give them the very best start in their new homes. They are fed once per day and enjoy a healthy diet that includes algae wafers, bee pollen, shrimp sticks, snowflake, tropical fish flakes, spirulina, and Bug Bites.
We’re passionate about the wellbeing of our shrimp, and their care is our top priority. Eco-Friendly Shipping & Hitchhikers
At H&K Aquatics, we never use plastic products for our shrimp to hold onto during transit. Instead, we provide natural plants such as guppy grass or similar from their habitat. This ensures your shrimp travel comfortably and safely.
Because of this natural method, there is a chance that snails or other small “hitchhikers” may accompany your shrimp. If you prefer not to introduce them to your aquarium, simply empty the contents of the shipping bag into a separate dish while acclimating. Once your shrimp are ready, carefully transfer them to your tank, leaving any unwanted hitchhikers behind.
We take full responsibility for any snails or hitchhikers. Since we also breed and sell our own beautiful snails, we like to think of them as a little bonus gift from us to you! Many of our customers choose to keep them as part of their clean-up crew.
Extra Shrimp, Shrimplets & Eggnant Females
At H&K Aquatics, we always look after our customers. Don’t worry—if you receive a few extra shrimp, you won’t be charged any more than you’ve already paid. Think of it as a little gift from us and a safety net in case of any possible D.O.A. (dead on arrival).
Sometimes, your order may also include tiny shrimplets. These are incredibly small and may sneak into the bag without us even noticing. Shrimplets are not counted towards the number of shrimp you ordered, so if they arrive with your shipment, you can enjoy the surprise of raising them and watching them grow.
Occasionally, some of our shrimp may also be “eggnant” (carrying eggs) during transit. If so, you can look forward to the exciting adventure of welcoming baby shrimplets into your aquarium!
Please note:
- You will never receive fewer shrimp than you ordered.
- Extra shrimp are a bonus, not a guarantee.
- We do not guarantee eggnant shrimp.
- We cannot take gender-specific orders.
