Black Chocolate Shrimp
Black Chocolate shrimp are a rich and distinctive variety of Neocaridina, admired for their deep brown to near-black colouration. Their velvety tones range from dark chocolate brown to almost black, creating a subtle yet striking presence in planted aquariums.
The darker colour of these shrimp contrasts beautifully with green plants, driftwood, and lighter substrates, giving aquascapes a natural and elegant look. In well-bred colonies the colour can appear dense and uniform, while some individuals may show slightly lighter brown undertones.
Peaceful and constantly active, Black Chocolate shrimp spend their time grazing on biofilm and algae while exploring plants, mosses, and décor throughout the aquarium. In a mature tank they quickly become an engaging and beneficial part of the ecosystem.
Hardy and adaptable, Black Chocolate shrimp are suitable for both beginner shrimp keepers and experienced hobbyists. In stable water conditions they breed readily, allowing shrimp keepers to develop thriving colonies over time.
