Bloody Mary shrimp are a striking and highly sought-after variety of Neocaridina, known for their deep ruby-red colouration and rich, glossy appearance. Unlike standard Red Cherry shrimp, Bloody Mary shrimp develop their colour through the shell itself, giving them a darker, more translucent crimson tone that can appear almost luminous under aquarium lighting.

Their deep red hues create a beautiful contrast against plants, mosses, and darker substrates, making them a standout feature in planted aquariums. In well-bred lines the colour is strong and consistent, giving colonies a bold and elegant appearance within the tank.

Peaceful and constantly active, Bloody Mary shrimp spend their time grazing on biofilm and algae while exploring plants and décor throughout the aquarium. In a well-established tank they quickly become a lively and beneficial part of the ecosystem.

Bloody Mary shrimp are hardy and adaptable, making them suitable for both beginner and experienced shrimp keepers. In stable water conditions they breed readily, allowing hobbyists to develop beautiful deep red colonies over time.
