Bring your aquarium closer to nature with our Indian Almond Leaf litter, carefully prepared from 100% natural dried leaves.

Each pack contains one torn Indian Almond Leaf, perfect for smaller tanks or controlled use without overwhelming your water.

As the leaf breaks down, it releases beneficial tannins that:

  • Support shrimp health and natural behaviour
  • Provide gentle antibacterial properties
  • Help create a calm, natural environment
  • Encourage biofilm growth (perfect for grazing)

Our leaves are ideal for:

🦐 Neocaridina & Caridina shrimp

🐌 Snails

🐟 Bettas and other soft water species

At H&K Aquatics, we keep things simple and ethical — no chemicals, no additives, just natural leaf litter from our tanks to yours.

Indian Almond Leaf Litter (Torn Leaf Portion) 🍁 CARE GUIDE

Indian Almond Leaves (Catappa) are a natural way to improve your aquarium’s health while creating a beautiful, natural look.

💧 What Do They Do?

When added to water, the leaves release tannins, which:

  • Slightly lower pH (ideal for many shrimp species)
  • Have mild antibacterial and antifungal properties
  • Reduce stress in shrimp and fish
  • Promote natural biofilm growth (a key food source)

📦 How to use

Because this is a torn leaf portion, it’s perfect for controlled dosing:

  • Add directly to your tank
  • Or pre-soak in water if you prefer it to sink faster
  • One portion is suitable for:
    • Small tanks (5–20L)
    • Or as a light addition to larger tanks

⏱️ What to expect

  • Water may turn a light tea colour (this is normal and beneficial)
  • Leaf will soften over a few days
  • Shrimp will begin grazing on it
  • It will gradually break down over 2–4 weeks

⚠️ Important Notes

  • Do not overdose — start small and observe
  • Safe for shrimp, snails, and most fish
  • Remove any remaining leaf matter once fully broken down (optional)
  • Store in a cool, dry place

💙H&K Tip

If your shrimp are new, stressed, or breeding — leaf litter is one of the easiest ways to support them naturally.
